Bilateral relations

Australia and Haiti established diplomatic relations in 2000. Australia's High Commissioner in Port of Spain has non-resident accreditation to Haiti.

Haiti has an Honorary Consul in Melbourne.

After the devastating 2010 earthquake, the Australian Government provided $26.7 million in humanitarian assistance to Haiti which was matched by $26 million by the Australian public.

Australia and Haiti are members of the World Trade Organisation (WTO), International Maritime Organisation (IMO), International Monetary Fund (IMF), United Nations (UN), and United Nations organisations.

Haiti is a member of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), Association of Caribbean States (ACS), the Africa, Caribbean and Pacific (ACP) Group of States, Organization of American States (OAS), Community of Latin American and Caribbean States and the Small Island Developing States (SIDS) grouping.

The Australian High Commission in Port of Spain manages a Direct Aid program in Haiti.
