New Caledonia
New Caledonia is a semi-autonomous overseas collectivity of France under the terms of the 1998 Noumea Accord. The New Caledonian archipelago is at the southern end of the chain of Melanesian islands, lying around 1500kms to the east of Queensland. Its capital, Noumea, is only two hours flying time from Brisbane.
