The Australian Government supports the EU’s action to list the nationalist and racist violent extremist group, The Base, on its terrorist list. This listing is the first time the EU has included a right-wing extremist group on its terrorist list.

Australia is committed to working with international partners to combat terrorism, including through listing groups that use violence in pursuit of political, ideological or religious objectives.

Listing an organisation is an important deterrent for, and response to, terrorist activity.

Australia has listed The Base as a terrorist organisation since December 2021, and the group is also subject to targeted financial sanctions.
