Consular Travel Advice - Papeete - Tahiti

The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade has reviewed its Travel Advice for Tahiti issued on 8 September 1995 and advises Australians intending to visit French Polynesia to exercise due care and maintain a high level of personal security awareness.

Australian consular officials are in Papeete from time to time and, when there, may be contacted care of the Beachcomber Hotel (telephone 865110). The Qantas office in Papeete (telephone 438838) is able to advise on alternative arrangements.

Australians who do travel to French Polynesia are urged to register their presence with the Australian Consulate-General 7/8th Floor, Immeuble Foch, 19 Rue De Marechal Foch, Noumea, New Caledonia (telephone 687-272214).
