The Department also operates a special visits program (SVP), which brings influential foreign officials, academics and business people to Australia. It is targeted at individuals who can contribute to a greater understanding of Australia's policies and institutions, and who are likely to be in positions which deal with issues of direct relevance to Australia's foreign and trade policy interests.

New South Wales State Office
The NSW State Office has an active program of business seminars on topical trade issues. These feature guest speakers including currently serving Australian Ambassadors/High Commissioners, high profile overseas visitors and experts from the department in Canberra. The seminars are intended to give exporters insights into their markets and additional understanding of global and regions issues affecting Australia's trade and investment performance.
Northern Territory State Office
Ambassadors and High Commissioners (Heads of Mission) from our overseas posts regularly visit the Northern Territory and are available to meet senior representatives from industry, universities and State and local governments. They can also be invited as guest speakers at meetings of foreign chambers of commerce and industry, business councils and other groups. If you are interested in engaging our Heads of Mission, please address all correspondence to dfat.darwin@dfat.gov.au. While requests for appointments will be considered, programs may already be finalised.

SVPs involve influential or potentially influential individuals who can contribute in their country to a greater understanding of Australia's policies and institutions. Similarly, IMVs provide an opportunity for select foreign media representatives to obtain a better understanding of Australia and its key domestic and international issues.

The Victoria State Office conducts public events and consultations on trade and foreign policy issues in metropolitan and regional Victoria. These events feature guest speakers, such as Ambassadors, High Commissioners and Consuls-General, high profile overseas visitors and specialists from the department. The list below includes details of forthcoming visits. Please note that while all requests for appointments with visitors to the office will be considered, visit programs may already be finalised.
Western Australia State Office
Ambassadors and High Commissioners from our posts overseas regularly visit Western Australia to meet with senior business and government officials. During mid-term consultations, they conduct seminars on issues topical to the bilateral relationships they manage.
