Project description
The project aims to foster interaction between Australian and Qatari researchers and in the field of agriculture and environment. Both the countries have regions with similar climatic conditions and the solutions are likely to be similar. Germplasm exchange, methods of germplasm evaluation and training will be the focus. Researchers in Australia and Qatar are interested in the manipulation of plant genetic resources for agriculture and the development of green spaces under harsh environmental conditions. Participants from The University of Sydney will deliver seminars at the Ministry of Environment in Qatar and participate in a workshop to assess combined strengths and capabilities in research and teaching. A reciprocal visit to PBI and Australian horticultural industry sites is part of the project. A workshop on micro-propagation of plants will be held at PBI. Research initiatives will be developed to accommodate the future student trainings.
