Project description

Museums Victoria proposes presenting an exhibition of paintings and manuscripts by Kahlil Gibran, a well-known artist, writer and poet of Lebanese and American background. His seminal book The Prophet has been translated into over 40 languages. The paintings and manuscript material would be lent to Museums Victoria by the Gibran National Committee (GNC), a non-profit organisation which manages the Gibran Museum. It is proposed that the exhibition is presented at the Immigration Museum, Melbourne, from late November to mid-March 2019.

This exhibition proposal is supported by the Honorable Steve Bracks AC, former Premier of Victoria and by His Excellency Glenn Miles, Australian Ambassador in Lebanon.

This exhibition is a project that will facilitate individual connections, community, business and government partnership between Lebanon and Australia. It will include a range of associated activities including CAAR-supported international speakers from the Gibran National Committee.
