Meet our 2017 grantees
Project summary
Sector: Tourism
Country location: Australia, Republic of Korea
Grantee: Jeju Olle Foundation
Project Description
Build a Friendship Trail relationship between Jeju Olle and Tasmania's walking trail to exchange culture and trail management skill. We hope, promoting international understanding and the culture of walking, while boosting tourism and local economies in both islands.
Friendship Trails are similar to sister cities, whereby trails in different countries/regions team up in the name of partnership, mutual publicity and international cooperation. Jeju Olle Foundation will find one of Tasmania's walking trails as a counterpart of Friendship Trail. Beginning with Friendship Trail agreement, exchanging program will be followed. Intended participants are trail coordinators/guardians, volunteers and hikers. We're expecting cross-program so that we have opportunities of experiencing culture and learning trail management skills each other. By working together, the project aims not only to increase exchange experience and skills of trails in Tasmania and Jeju, but also to increase awareness of Tasmania as a new holiday destination to Koreans, visitor numbers from Korea to Tasmania and experience a variety of other activities and attractions and further boost economy of Tasmania.
