In 2017-18, Australia's total official development assistance to Kiribati was $27.7 million.
Australia is Kiribati's largest bilateral aid donor, providing development assistance equivalent to almost 15 per cent of the Government of Kiribati's estimated 2018 expenditure. Our development cooperation program in Kiribati aims to support the Government of Kiribati to implement economic reforms and develop a better-educated and healthier population. $20.2 million was delivered through DFAT's bilateral program and the remainder through Pacific regional programs, and other government departments such as the Australian Federal Police and Attorney-General's Department. This report summarises the performance of Australia's aid program in Kiribati against the jointly agreed objectives above.
