Summary of publication
This Aid Program Performance Report (APPR) outlines the objectives of the Australian Government's bilateral aid program to Tonga as articulated in the Australia-Tonga Aid Partnership Arrangement 2016-19. It assesses progress towards these objectives from July 2017 to June 2018 and provides recommendations for improving program performance going forward.
Total Australian aid to Tonga in 2017-18 was $34.6 million, including $23.8 million in bilateral assistance. Australia continues to use the Tongan Government to deliver a large portion of its development assistance and maintains a strong working relationship with Tonga on development and other issues.
