Summary of publication
This report summarises the performance of Australia's aid program to Pakistan over the period of July 2015 to June 2016.
This report finds that the Australian aid program continued to make a sound contribution to development outcomes in Pakistan in 2015-16. These successes were tempered by persistent operational challenges for aid delivery in Pakistan. Our economic growth objective is on track, with most of our agriculture and rural development investments delivering strong results. Against our social development objective, our key investments in education and challenging gender-based violence performed well. However, there were significant implementation delays in our nutrition investment and the Government of Pakistan's stricter regulation of International NGOs halted our infant, maternal and child health investment. Promoting gender equality and women's empowerment remained challenging in the conservative contexts in which Australia's aid program operates, and will be a continued focus of program management in 2016-17.
