Timor-Leste Nabilan Progress Briefing: January - July 2019

Summary of publication

The presentation provides an assessment of progress in the first six months of 2019 by the Nabilan, Ending Violence Against Women and Children Program in Timor-Leste.

From January- June 2019, Nabilan service partners supported 734 new clients and provided 4,048 services to women and children experiencing violence. Training improved the skills of frontline service workers in medical forensic examinations, counselling and referrals. There was an increase in the quality of case management among service providers. Nailan's adaptation of the SASA! methodology to prevent violence – KOKOSA! – gained momentum in the pilot site of Manufahi, reaching 12.9 per cent of the village population. Further gains were made in supporting the Change Ambassador network and independent feminist movements.
