Summary of publication

The Vanuatu Health Sector Strategy 2017-2020 seeks to guide the development of Vanuatu's health sector until 2020, following on from targets set out in Vanuatu's National Sustainable Development Plan 2016-2030. The strategy was developed by Vanuatu's Ministry of Health in consultation with a wide range of stakeholders. It sets out Vanuatu's health sector objectives, guiding principles, challenges and intended outcomes and actions going forward. The strategy outlines three main strategic directions:

1. Strengthening health service management and information systems;
2. Improving population access to health services through integrated planning, and fair allocation of resources; and
3. Strengthening collaborative action across sectors and within the health sector to create a healthier environment and address major health issues.
