Vanuatu Australia Police Project Design (March 2011)

Summary of publication

This document describes the goal, purpose, activities, planned outputs and management of the next phase of the ongoing partnership between the Australian Federal Police, the Vanuatu Police Force and the department, February 2011 to June 2012.

The project continues an earlier five-year capacity building partnership between the Australian Federal Police and the Vanuatu Police Force. It will continue to support the Vanuatu Police Force's own efforts to build a more professional, well-equipped force. It will help the Vanuatu Police Force manage its human and financial resources guided by Vanuatu's Law and Justice Sector Strategy 2009-14. The new phase will focus on helping the Vanuatu Police Force: provide the right training to meet priority policing needs; interact well with communities, in particular to reduce high rates of violence against women and children; improve leadership and management; and collaborate effectively and efficiently with other law and justice agencies under the sector strategy.
