Avoidable Blindness Initiative: Partnership Agreement

Summary of publication

This document outlines respective roles, responsibilities, governance and working arrangements between the department and Vision 2020 to reduce preventable blindness and improve life for people with low vision and blindness in selected Asia and Pacific countries 2009–2011.

Under the Partnership, the Vision 2020 Consortium comprises:

  • Fred Hollows Foundation
  • Christian Blind Mission Australia
  • International Centre for Eye care Education
  • Foresight Australia
  • Royal Australasian College of Surgeons
  • Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists
  • Centre for Eye Research Australia
  • Royal Institute for Deaf and Blind Children
  • Vision Australia.

The Partnership objectives are to:

  • increase disadvantaged people's access to comprehensive eye care services in selected Asia and Pacific countries
  • strengthen national health systems in Asia and Pacific countries to plan, develop and implement national Vision 2020 programs.
