Longitudinal Study of Australian Volunteers (Phase 1) (2019)

One of the expected outcomes of the Australian Volunteers Program is that Australian volunteers gain professionally and personally, and are able to promote greater cultural awareness and build stronger connections between partner countries and Australia. In order to track progress towards achieving this, a longitudinal study of volunteers’ experiences and what happens after they complete their assignments commenced in 2019 (Phase 1) with further follow-up analysis expected in the coming years (Phases 2 and 3). The purpose of this study (Phase 1) is to capture achievements, learnings and experiences of volunteers who have participated in the Australian Volunteers Program.

In subsequent phases of the study, the researchers (University of Technology, Sydney) will consider the impact of COVID-19 in their research.
