Summary of publication
The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade commissioned the Centre for International Economics (CIE) to conduct a feasibility analysis of a prospective free trade agreement between Australia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE). CIE presented its findings in February 2023 and updated them in August 2024 to account for latest trade data. The report concluded that a free trade agreement between Australia and the UAE was a feasible prospect. It noted there are potentially healthy gains in Australian exports for particular products and services, providing a welcome extra source of export diversification.
