Project Description

With the support of AKF, Asialink Arts is proud to deliver its seventh arts residency exchange between Australia and Korea in 2017. The successful Australian artist will undertake a ten-week residency at MMCA Residency Goyang, National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, while the Korean artist will spend ten weeks at Artspace, Sydney. This exchange will be followed by two weeks together at BigCi in the NSW Blue Mountains. The artists will use the exchange as an opportunity to expand their networks in Korea and Australia, immerse themselves in the local culture and create new work.

Since 1991 Asialink's Arts Residency program has provided international professional development opportunities for arts professionals across all art forms. The largest program of its kind in Australia, Asialink's Residency Program maintains established partnerships with host organisations across Asia as well as initiating new models of exchange. With the support of Australia-Japan Foundation, Australia-Korea Foundation, Australia-Indonesia Institute and Australia-China Council, residencies encourage research, skills sharing, artistic development, and the establishment of enduring networks and relationships throughout the region.
