The joy of intercultural encounters

Inspired by children's remarkable capacity to intuitively investigate, and accept the differences of others, the bilingual "This That" performance and children's book is being jointly created in Brisbane and Seoul. This theatrical work involves a partnership between Imaginary Theatre, QPAC's Out of the Box Festival, and ASSITEJ Korea. "This That" will be performed and distributed widely to children, families and educators in both countries including a regional tour of southern Queensland with QPAC's Out of the Box Festival and premiere in Seoul during the ASSITEJ Korea Summer Festival in July 2016.

"This That" features one Korean and two Australian performers, simple dialogue in Korean and English, and sophisticated sound, lighting and visual designs for children aged 2-5, their families and carers.

Imaginary Theatre has been engaged with Korea for over 11 years building long-term bilateral relationships with Korean partners in the shared interest areas of early childhood arts and education.

The Australia-Korea Foundation is proud to be supporting Imaginary Theatre and partners to develop, perform and publish "This That", increasing public awareness of Australia in Korea, and Korea in Australia.
