Project description

This program takes students of Deakin University on a three-week tour to Jordan and Qatar. The study tour aims at creating intercultural and political understanding by offering a first-hand view of life in two Arab monarchies at opposite ends of the economic spectrum. With a focus on interacting with local people, including their fellow university students, the tour aims to create deeper levels of understanding and empathy for the participants whilst fostering career directions for life after university. Through a series of professional experiences with diplomats, NGO staff, UN organisations and academics, the program builds enduring connections between young Australians and the region. The ultimate objective of the program is to see those Deakin graduates pursuing careers related to the Middle East.
