Professor Abbas is a Professor of Chemical Engineering, Associate Dean of Research at the University of Sydney, and Founding Director of the Waste Transformation Research Hub.
Prof. Abbas’ experience is in the field of Process Systems Engineering (PSE), with applications in clean energy and biological systems. He has also worked on circular economy transitions – identifying ways to translate the circular economy principles into practice, while employing the PSE approach.
Prof. Abbas is the Founding Chair of the Australian Circular Economy Conference (ACEC), and was a Finalist in the 2023 Eureka Prize for Innovative Research in Sustainability.
