2021 ACDGP grantees

The Australia-UK Contemporary Comedy Partnership, Melbourne International Comedy Festival

The Melbourne International Comedy Festival will work with London’s Soho Theatre to support six Australian comedy performers to present seasons at the 2022 Edinburgh Festival Fringe and at Soho Theatre in London.

The Aboriginal Comedy Allstars (four performers) and two further solo show performers (to be identified during the 2022 Melbourne Comedy Festival in collaboration with a visiting representative from Soho Theatre) will present four-week seasons in Edinburgh and a one-week season in London.

An emerging ‘stand out’ Australian comedian from the 2022 Melbourne International Comedy Festival will be supported to travel to the UK to undertake showcase sets in Edinburgh and London, establish connections and start to build the audience necessary to return in 2023 with a full solo show.

The Melbourne International Comedy Festival is one of the world’s biggest and most loved comedy festivals. Conceived to promote the comedic arts in Australia, the Melbourne International Comedy Festival has earned a global reputation for presenting high quality, creative and eclectic programming.
