The Southeast Asia and Australia Government-to-Government Partnerships program (SEAG2G) is a new 5-year, $50 million initiative to deepen institutional partnerships between Australia and Southeast Asia. It will be a key mechanism to contribute towards implementation of Invested: Australia’s Southeast Asia Economic Strategy to 2040, Australia’s International Development Policy and Southeast Asia Development Partnership Plans. It will also deliver on the announcement made at the ASEAN-Australia Special Summit in March 2024 for a $10 million climate and clean energy funding window.
The SEAG2G value proposition is that by leveraging Australia’s institutions and expertise, Australia can support partner countries to respond to critical economic development opportunities and challenges. The program goal is: deeper institutional partnerships between Australia and Southeast Asia that support economic and social development and more effective, accountable, and inclusive government institutions in Southeast Asia.
SEAG2G activities and partnerships will be delivered across 4 thematic priorities: i) climate change and energy transition, ii) education and skills, iii) sustainable agriculture and food security and iv) effective and inclusive public institutions.
