2018 Memorandum of Understanding between the Australian Government and the Vanuatu Government on Development Cooperation

Summary of publication

The Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) outlines the partnership arrangements between the Governments of Australian and Vanuatu for development cooperation. It sets out the roles and contributions of each government and how they will work together to ensure development cooperation contributes as effectively and efficiently as possible to sustained and inclusive economic growth and reduced poverty in Vanuatu.

The MOU provides that Australian development assistance will be directed to sectors which the Government of Vanuatu accords greatest priority, including those set out in the Australia-Vanuatu Aid Partnership Arrangement 2016-19 or agreed successor arrangements. It provides that the two governments may agree on the details of specific activities in subsidiary arrangements to the MOU.
