AusAID Mekong Water Resources Program Delivery Strategy 2009-12

Summary

This document provides an update on how AusAID will implement the Australian Mekong Water Resources Strategy 2007–11.

Description

This document provides an update on how AusAID will implement the Australian Mekong Water Resources Strategy from 2009-12. Decisions taken in country and in the provincial capitals of the Region that direct water resources development are heavily influenced by the finance and construction sector, governors, and non-water Ministries. Activities have been designed and underway since 2007 with traditional development partners, specifically the Mekong River Commission (MRC) and ministries with water mandates, in partnerships with the World Bank, Asian Development Bank and other traditional donors. To be more effective new partnerships with other actors will be developed to provide greater opportunity to improve Mekong Region water resources development decision-making and management. These new partners, collectively referred to as 'non-state actors' include science, advocacy, civil society and the private sector.
