Indonesia Communities and Education Program in Aceh (2007–2009): Management response to independent completion report

Summary of publication

This is the management response to the Communities and Education Program in Aceh (2007–2009) Independent Completion Report.

The $8.9 million Communities and Education Program in Aceh (CEPA) program commenced in February 2006 under the Australia Indonesia Partnership for Reconstruction and Development (AIPRD)–the Australian Government's five-year $1 billion response to the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami. The program aimed to contribute to strengthening communities through rehabilitating schools and improving education quality in conflict-affected areas of Aceh. The program was announced following the peace agreement between the Indonesian Government and the Free Aceh Movement.

The Independent Completion Report evaluates Phase 2, from September 2007 to September 2009. The management response found that overall, the evaluation provided practical recommendations and lessons to inform other programs. Management agreed with all of the key recommendations.
