Summary

Funding agreement between governments of Vanuatu (Ministry of Health) and Australia (AusAID) for Australian funding to support implementation of the Health Sector Strategy 2010-2016.

Description

The funding agreement is guided by the Ministry of Health's Joint Partnership Arrangement and Vanuatu Australia Partnership for Development Priority Outcome 2: Improved Health. Annex 1 outlines the program approach and objectives, aligned with Partnership's health objectives i.e.: accelerated progress towards the health Millennium Development Goals (reduce child mortality, improve maternal health, and combat HIV/AIDS, malaria and other diseases); enhanced access to and quality of health care especially for rural communities; control and progressively eliminate malaria; improve budgeting, financial and expenditure management; and strengthen the health information system to inform decision-making. The agreement provides indicative funding levels, performance milestones for payment, and management arrangements.
