Summary of publication
This Agreement between Australia and Timor-Leste establishes a shared vision to work together in close cooperation to improve the lives of all citizens of Timor-Leste. This document reflects the determination to work together to help tackle poverty and promote peace, stability and prosperity. It articulates how each government will advance the Agreement by acknowledging and reinforcing Timor-Leste's leadership and ensuring good international practice in development approaches. The new agreement aligns Australia's development assistance with the Government of East Timor's 20 year Strategic Development Plan and reconfirms that Australian aid should be directed to the priority areas outlined in the Country Strategy, along with additional support for education over the next four years.
