Groundwater Management in Southern Mongolia: concept note

Summary of publication

This concept note, prepared by the World Bank on behalf of the Government of Mongolia in April 2011, seeks funding to help establish a new institutional framework to strengthen the management of water resources in Mongolia, especially in relation to mining and downstream processing activities.

The funding would provide technical and financial resources to establish two or more Basin Management Councils and Basin Management Administrations at basins focused on surface water.

The concept note is divided into three sections: Analysis - including project rationale and relevance to Australian aid programs - Activity Description, and Design, Implementation and Resourcing.
