Summary
The HPA Disaster Risk Reduction, Disaster Risk Management and Capacity Building Report summarises the learning, achievements and collective value of the initiatives which took place in the first year of the partnership.
Description
In 2011, AusAID entered into a three year partnership with six selected and accredited Australian Non-Government Organisations (NGOs) – CARE, CARITAS, Oxfam, Plan, Save the Children and World Vision. Under the Humanitarian Partnership Agreement (HPA), each agency receives annual tranches of AUD 500,000 to deliver disaster risk reduction (DRR), disaster risk management (DRM) and capacity building initiatives which reduce vulnerability, enhance resilience and strengthen preparedness and response capacity. This summary report covers achievements, areas of joint collaboration and common learning in year one which will help inform future implementation and direction. While HPA programs were designed individually, agencies have utilised opportunities to strengthen collaborative ways of working on DRR and DRM.
