In 2017-18 Australia's total official development assistance to Nauru was $26.1 million.
Australia is Nauru's most significant donor, providing development assistance equivalent to 25 per cent of Nauru's gross domestic product. Our development cooperation program in Nauru aims to achieve the objectives of promoting more effective public sector management, investing in nation building infrastructure and supporting human development through delivering better health and education services. Of this, $21.2 million was delivered through DFAT's bilateral program and the remainder through Pacific regional programs, as well as capacity-building provided by the Australian Federal Police and Attorney-General's Department. This report summarises the performance of Australia's aid program in Nauru against the jointly agreed objectives above.
