Australia's development assistance to the Philippines in 2017–18 focused on delivering the final year of the Philippines Aid Investment Plan (AIP) 2014–2015 to 2017–2018. Influencing the Philippines policy debate in areas of strategic interest, particularly gender, was a key priority. Australia also provided timely humanitarian assistance from the impacts of the Marawi conflict, Typhoon Tembin and the eruption of Mount Mayon.
This report provides an assessment of DFAT's success in delivering assistance against the three objectives outlined in the AIP:
- enhancing the foundations for economic growth
- building stronger institutions for transparent and accountable governance
- improving conditions for peace and stability
