Summary of publication
The design document is a foundation document that provides the basis upon which a decision is made to commit funds. It also guides activity implementation and provides the principal reference point for performance reviews.
Importantly, it allows for subsequent modifications to be assessed against the original intent of the activity. The design document should also provide the details to be included in any agreement, contract or other implementation instruction, about the roles and responsibilities of each party, the amount of funding, the monitoring, reporting and evaluation requirements, the management structures, and/or other requirements as identified during the design.
