The ASEAN Australia Development Cooperation Program - Independent completion report

Summary

This evaluation is an independent completion report for the ASEAN Australia Development Cooperation Program, which ran from 2002-08 and was aimed at sustainable economic and social development in the ASEAN region.

Description

The ASEAN Australia Development Cooperation Program (AADCP) was aimed at promoting sustainable economic and social development in the ASEAN region. The objectives of the program were to strengthen regional cooperation, strengthen regional institutions, strengthen scientific, technnological and environmental cooperation and support integration of new ASEAN members.

Over a five year period Australian funding was channeled through three main streams: firstly, through small regional cooperation programs in agriculture and fisheries, customs, e-commerce, animal health and food safety; secondly, through partnerships between Australian organisations and ASEAN regional organisations in agriculture and fisheries, finance, environment, tourism and energy; and finally, through support for various regional economic and policy studies.

This evaluation assesses the extent to which the program achieved its objectives through these activities.
