Vanuatu Church Partnership Program: Annual Report 2009-10

Summary of publication

This is the first annual report for the three-year Vanuatu Church Partnership Program which commenced in August 2009.

The report summarises the findings of baseline research in the previous eighteen months, including the strengths, weaknesses and development needs of Vanuatu's churches. It reports a solid but slow start to the program, with only three of the four planned areas of assistance activated (because funding was allocated late in the financial year). Initial results reported include: fully-staffed and equipped office established at the Vanuatu Council of Churches; church representatives trained (e.g. in governance, leadership and financial management); offices established or refurbished for other church partners and new staff recruited and trained as needed; program plans and strategies agreed; and some health and education activities conducted (e.g. health workers trained in HIV/AIDS, breast cancer and cervical cancer; health brochures produced in Bislama; school building being completed).
