This report summarises the performance of Australia's aid program to Vietnam over the period of July 2016 to June 2017.
Australia's total official development assistance to Vietnam in 2016-17 was $86.5 million. The program is implemented in close cooperation with the Government of Vietnam, multilateral and bilateral donors, and non-government organisations. This report finds that in 2016-17 Australia's aid program made good progress in closing investments under the previous aid strategy, implementing ongoing investments and designing new initiatives to deliver against the objectives of the current Aid Investment Plan (AIP) - enabling and engaging the private sector for development; assisting the development and employment of a highly skilled workforce; and promoting women's economic empowerment, including ethnic minorities. However, mobilisation of some new investments is behind schedule due to delays in Government of Vietnam approvals.
