Wan Smolbag Theatre Tripartite Partnership Design 2010-2014

Summary

Design for a five-year partnership between Wan Smolbag Theatre (a Vanuatu civil society organisation), Australia and New Zealand to consolidate the theatre's activities and further improve the quality of its work.

Description

A joint Australian and New Zealand review in April 2009 found Wan Smolbag theatre had delivered, or more than delivered, almost all its planned outputs. The new design follows the review's advice to further improve work quality, staff abilities, and senior management. The objective is to improve community life in Vanuatu and where appropriate other Pacific countries, by: maintaining high quality and reach of theatre, film and radio productions and publications on contemporary development issues; improving the quality of services to young men and women in peri-urban areas to promote their positive participation in Vanuatu's development; initiating discussion, advocating for and supporting community action e.g. on conservation and emerging controversial issues; improving peri-urban and rural access to confidential sexual and reproductive health services for women and men; maximising the benefits of three-way (Wan Smolbag, Australia and New Zealand) management; and undertaking research and sharing lessons with interested government departments, civil societies, donors and other development organisations.
