The Australia-Indonesia Muslim Exchange Program (AIMEP) is an intensive program of intercultural and interreligious exchange that brings together Muslim changemakers, community activists and emerging leaders from across Indonesia and Australia.
Established in 2002, AIMEP focuses on building a greater understanding of the rich multicultural diversity of both Indonesia and Australia, with an emphasis on the range of expressions of mainstream Islam that flourish in both societies. The program fosters links between Australian and Indonesian Muslim communities, and strengthens the people-to-people, institutional and cultural ties between our two countries.
Beginning with four weeks of online learning and networking, delegates get to know one another and meet with experts, leaders and practitioners to explore a range of topics, including: Islam in our neighbouring country; diversity and inclusion; community development; and women and gender.
Delegates then undertake immersion programs in Australia and Indonesia where they experience the other's culture and society and engage with leading academics, religious and community leaders, and government representatives.
The AIMEP alumni network comprises more than 300 people and includes prominent Indonesians and Australians with expertise in a wide range of fields.
AIMEP is currently delivered by Mosaic Connections. For more information, visit the Australia-Indonesia Muslim Exchange Program website.
