Project description
The Modern Middle East is a current affairs television series breaking down the news headlines, topical issues and travel destinations in the Middle East. Each episode begins with the presenter reporting the regional headlines that broke during the previous week, such as escalating protests in the Gaza Strip or the discovery of ancient artefacts in Egypt. The final headline leads into the introduction of the episode's theme, explored through an in-depth editorial combining presenter narration, expert commentary and visual overlay to present a balanced exploration of a topic such as religion or foreign policy. After an ad-break, one or more guests join the panel for an open discussion focusing on their personal experience with the topic. After a second break, a travel package featuring a short Skype interview with someone who has recently returned from the Middle East concludes the episode, with their personal insights and photos of local experiences revealing unique destinations across the region, from the beautiful wadis of Oman to the bustling streets of Jerusalem. Season 2 is airing at 6:30 Thursday nights on Foxtel's Aurora channel from July to September 2018, and is also available to watch on demand via the series' YouTube channel.
