The Multilateral Development Bank Infrastructure Assistance (MDB-IAP) is a $50.5 million investment that delivers technical assistance in policy and advisory services, institutional capacity strengthening, and project preparation for loan issuance through two trust funds: 1) The Indonesia Infrastructure Support Trust Funds (INIS) administered by the World Bank; and 2) The Sustainable Infrastructure Assistance Program – Technical Assistance Cluster, administered by the Asian Development Bank.
MDB-IAP is structured over a seven year period (2013-2019) and aims to 1)Leverage the Government of Indonesia's (GoI) investment resources through project preparation; 2) influence new GoI policy decisions; and 3) contribute to reform in focus areas including transport, energy, water and sanitation, water resources and other infrastructure sectors.
DFAT commissioned an independent evaluation of the MDB-IAP in November 2017. The evaluation assessed the extent to which the MDB-IAP program modality was effective and delivered expected outcomes and tested its adaptability to emerging themes and the extent to which this benefited the program. Overall the findings recognise that MDB-IAP were found to be an effective way of delivering Australia Aid. The evaluation made a set of recommendations in relation to any future funding. DFAT welcomes the findings and recommendations and has summarised the actions taken and planned on the Management Response.
