The System for Land-based Emissions Estimation in Kenya (SLEEK) is six year, $13 million investment, funded by DFAT and managed by the Department of the Environment and Energy. SLEEK's objective is to enable the measurement, reporting and verification of greenhouse gas emissions from the land sector in Kenya. This supports land use planning and natural resource management (including efforts to limit deforestation), and assists efforts to meet Kenya's requirements for emissions reduction under the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change.
A mid-term review of the first two years of the SLEEK program was commenced by independent experts GHD Pty Ltd in April 2015. This was intended to inform the Australian Government on the progress of the program and to provide recommendations to ensure its outcomes were achieved.
Following feedback from partners the final report was completed in October 2015. A management response to the mid-term review was finalised in July 2016.
