Summary of publication
This is the second report on the Australia-Vanuatu Partnership for Development, which was signed in May 2009.
The report assesses that work under only one of the five partnership priorities (law and justice) is likely to be fully achieved by 2015. It highlights as 'standout achievements' utilities deregulation and (near) universal primary education. It also notes further progress in establishing sector-wide approaches in health and education. It notes that Government of Vanuatu systems did not mature as hoped during 2010, with particularly slow progress on rural road maintenance and rehabilitation as a result. Attachment A provides the agreed outcomes of the Australia-Vanuatu Partnership for Development talks, including steps to address the problems raised in the Partnership Report 2010.
