Summary of publication

This review has performed a quality check of ICDDRB funding proposal submitted to core funding donors for the period 2010 to 2014.

The review found that the proposal provides a sufficiently strong basis for core donors to provide continued funding to ICDDRB for the period 2010 to 2014 in support of its strategic plan. The proposal was found to be relevant, effective, efficient, sustainable and gender focused, well aligned with the Strategic Plan 2020 and with the Government of Bangladesh and Australia´s policies and interests.

The review recommends that further detail is provided to core funding donors in the following areas through the annual review process of future years: keep the financing challenge on sight at every annual review and provide specific comments and detail on progress for ICDDRB in order to maximise contribution from project 'restricted' funds, reduce costs, to have a clear fundraising strategy, and to have an explicit risk management strategy.
