Reviews Year 1 of Phase 3 activities including project implementation and management, monitoring and evaluation, progress in relation to objectives, lessons learned and changes and improvements required from Year 2.
Description
The report notes the following 'key issues of significance' during the first year of phase 3: an eighteen-month hiatus between contracts for Phase 2 and Phase 3 while AusAID conducted internal quality and approval processes; expansion of personnel numbers, roles and responsibilities at the Malvatumauri Vanuatu National Council of Chiefs; primary responsibility for running storians gradually shifting from the Australian Centre for Peace and Conflict Studies to the Malvatumauri; a new site for storians in Torba Province; further development of storian themes and materials (including land issues, community development, governance and conflict resolution); increased focus on involving women in the partnership and explicitly discussing gender issues in storians and research; increased emphasis on locally-initiated and managed research; added option of public forums to increase the national value of the partnership; and innovations (such as a custom celebration as part of national day in Santo) to support the partnership goals.
