Summary
Describes the aim, implementation plans, resources and management of coordinated Australian assistance to improve economic governance through Vanuatu government systems.
Description
The economic governance schedule commits Australia and Vanuatu to strengthen the planning, budgeting and accountability processes of the Vanuatu Government. Activities build on previous Australian support, and include: strengthened budget processes to better reflect national priorities; improved public financial management systems, combining government and donor resources for development, and improving line ministry financial management; strengthened transparency and accountability for public expenditure results; improved management of government business enterprises, in particular risk management; and enhanced collection and management of statistics to track development progress. The schedule includes additional incentive funding for reaching agreed performance milestones in high priority reform areas, to be agreed at the annual Partnership Talks. It emphasises use of Government of Vanuatu systems, including procurement, personnel and financial management systems.
