Summary of publication
The annual plan describes 2012 activities under the land program's six objectives.
In addition to program planning and management (e.g. developing strategies, workplans and a program performance assessment framework), in 2012 the program will deliver 35 activities under five objectives.
It will register councils of chiefs throughout Vanuatu and follow up 19 resolutions from a Customary Land Workshop. It will assess options to establish an association of land professionals in Vanuatu. The program will promote public awareness of customary land issues, and create a database of customary markers and historical sites in Vanuatu. It will support annual workshops for Vanuatu Cultural Centre Fieldworkers. In 2012, the program will continue registering land documents (to further reduce a backlog) and improve registration processes. It will identify land related legislation and regulation for review and will draft proposed amendments (e.g. to the Customary Land Tribunal Act and regulations under the Foreshore Development Act). It will also continue improvements to the land information management (survey records and maps) and valuation systems.
