Australia and the United Kingdom want women entrepreneurs to reach their full potential. Advancing women's economic empowerment, including through our trade and investment relationship with the UK, is essential to a resilient economic recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Australia-United Kingdom Free Trade Agreement (A-UKFTA) includes commitments aimed at supporting women's access to the full benefits that flow from trade and investment
The A-UKFTA will support cooperation to promote businesses owned and led by women accessing markets, technology, financial services, and business and leadership networks.
A dialogue mechanism will support implementation of the commitments on gender equality and women's economic empowerment. In addition, Australia and the UK will exchange information and good practices on approaches to data collection, analysis and monitoring of trade and gender equality in their respective jurisdictions.
The A-UKFTA is an example of how the Australian Government is delivering on its commitments to boost women's economic security, in line with the 2020-21 Women's Budget Statement.
