KONEKSI Design Document

Summary

The Knowledge Partnership Platform (also known as KONEKSI) is Australia's flagship knowledge program in Indonesia that supports better use of knowledge-based solutions for inclusive and sustainable policies and technologies. This design document provides more information about the rationale, intended outcomes, implementation arrangements, and detail on how the KONEKSI program is managed by DFAT and its partners.

KONEKSI supports the development of knowledge that is relevant to both countries and that contributes to Indonesia's economic transition from a resource-based to a knowledge-based economy. It support's the development of partnerships between Australian and Indonesian organisations, and the potential to draw in other global actors, to carry out and disseminate high-quality, multidisciplinary applied research on complex socio-economic problems that reflect priorities of mutual interest. These partnerships acknowledge the diverse and complementary strengths of the partners and operate in a collaborative manner to investigate the technical/policy/private sector/socio-cultural/geo-political and geo-strategic aspects of selected development issues.

The research themes are agreed jointly between Australia and Indonesia, taking into account mutual priorities, relevant cooperation agreements and the evolving bilateral relationship's context and needs. The research themes also reflect Indonesia's long- and medium-term development priorities The knowledge produced generates relevant policy and technology solutions in a synergistic manner, and to complements and informs the support provided by other GoA-funded initiatives in Indonesia The KONEKSI approach helps to strengthen the coherence and impact of Australia's development cooperation investments portfolio in Indonesia. It also supports the development of the Indonesian knowledge and innovation sector by providing targeted and catalytic assistance to develop organisational capacities and address specific systemic constraints.
