This is the end of the program review of the Local Empowerment through Economic Development (LEED).

Local Empowerment through Economic Development (LEED) is a five-year, A$4.52 million DFAT investment to improve human security in the post-conflict setting of Sri Lanka by creating decent work opportunities and livelihoods with a focus on the poor and marginalised that supports local and national reconciliation. It has also addressed the North-South development gap by creating linkages between the well-developed southern agro-businesses and the less-developed agricultural sector in the North. It has concentrated activities in the agricultural, fisheries, and SME sectors. It also focuses on empowerment, capacity building, and legislative review that will address the broad spectrum of gender equality issues enabling women and other excluded groups to participate on a more equal footing in the government’s development agenda.

The review was undertaken by the partner UN-ILO to assess and verify the progress of the program and make recommendations for any future program. Please see the attached evaluation reports and our management responses which were cleared by the High Commissioner.
