Accelerate Bangsamoro - Supporting Women’s Economic Opportunities in the Philippines

Rawasiya in Sulu, Philippines has a cleft lip.  She has difficulty communicating and has experienced extreme bullying. Rawasiya was skilled in making bubuk (toasted dried fish flavoured coconut), a traditional Filipino cooking ingredient, but struggled to reach consumers and produce large quantities. With support from the project Accelerate Bangsamoro, Rawasiya began to widen her marketing efforts, showcasing the delicacy to a wider audience. Her bubuk has become a sought-after ingredient, and she can now produce and fulfill customer demand. Through the facilitation of Accelerate Bangsamoro, Rawasiya received sponsorship from USSC (Western Union) for product enhancement and marketing.  During 2023, 289 women received support from the project to enhance their economic opportunities.
